STOP THE ARMS FAIR

Thursday 7 September 1100 to 1600hrs
ExCel Centre
London
E16 1XL

Veterans For Peace will be taking action at the Excel Centre in East London during the set up of the DSEi Arms Fair.

Our Statement of Purpose says “we will work to end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons”. The DSEi Arms Fair is a key driver in the arms race.

Our Statement of Purpose says “we will work to restrain our government from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations”. The DSEi Arms Fair provides the tools for the invasions and occupations ordered by our government.

On Thursday 7 September all members of Veterans For Peace are encouraged to attend the East Gate of the Excel Centre.

We will be carrying out citizen’s inspections of the vehicles arriving at the Arms Fair to ensure that no weapons banned under the Geneva Conventions are being brought into the fair for sale.

Meet at PRINCE REGENT DLR STATION between 1030 and 1100 on Thursday 7 September.

Coordinators:
Ben Griffin 07866 559 312

Dress: VFP Blue Hoody / Sweatshirt / T-shirt

Travel: The Underground Jubilee Line to Canning Town, change onto a Beckton-bound DLR train, to Prince Regent for ExCeL (East).

Briefing: A full briefing will be given at the VFP London meeting on Monday 4 September at 1800 in Housmans Books, Kings Cross.

Nice work, members of VFPUK. I recall watching a Nicholas Cage film some years ago entitled Lord of War. In it, Cage plays an international arms dealer who is always one step ahead of an Agent on his trail. It views lime a typical far fetched Hollywood movie that is too ridiculous to believe. However, the film is indeed around real events and real people. I was shocked to learn just how convenient such people are to governments who facilitate the proliferation of weapons (anything from small arms to missiles) leaving no trace of political involvement in regions of national interest that, in turn, create the instability and turmoil that are favorable to us and for whatever reasons that underpin such policies and interests. It is true that many nations are involved in this covert and unspoken aspect of foreign policy, including, most shockingly, the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council!

  2. What a fabulous idea! I wish I could be there with you.

  3. Thanks to all VFP UK for the great work. The Miramar Air Show starts in a couple of weeks. This is the second year of our 5 year campaign to create greater public awareness to what is really going on. Indoctrination of youth, false and sanitized version of war, environment destruction by the thousand of galleons of J-5 used to fuel the jets and billions in arms trade. We continue to get a lot of good press coverage here in San Diego about our protest.

Awesome!!! These are the events we need to protest and make our voice for peace and sanity be heard, especially as Veterans of War.
